At the end of a very busy and ambitious day, we departed the subway at the Times Square station ready to quickly grab a bite to eat and navigate the 3-4 blocks back to the hotel.
Or at least I thought that might be the plan. But, as a way to continue sightseeing without more walking, we signed ourselves up for a double-decker bus tour of the midtown area. From our perch on the top of the bus looking forward through the windshield, we got to see first-hand that the city truly never sleeps.
To get the full effect of perusing the photos below, build a quick playlist with the following songs on repeat. The first cycle through the playlist (or two) was alright. But as we got stuck in traffic near Greenwich Village these songs got pretty old, pretty quick.
- Empire State of Mind, Jay-Z
- New York State of Mind, Billy Joel
- I’m Still Standing, Elton John
- Welcome to New York, Taylor Swift
- New York, New York, Frank Sinatra
