Seattle, Chihuly Garden and Glass

The Chihuly Garden and Glass installation is right in the shadow of the Space Needle. So much colored glass!

Our final planned activity for our second day in Seattle was the Chihuly Garden and Glass installation. The garden is right in the shadow of the Space Needle and it serves as a great backdrop to several of the chandelier and hanging pendant outdoor installations.

Having experienced some of these pieces as a part of the Desert Botanical Garden’s traveling exhibit several years ago, I thought I knew kind of what to expect. But I appreciated being able to see the various styles of the presentations in this standing gallery up close. The color ranges present in the glass are amazing!

I also found a lot of inspiration in his story. It turns out that the very thing that tried to kill him – massive cuts from the front windshield of a vehicle in a car crash – was also the source of so much beauty in his life.
