Our last day in Seattle still left us a full day of sightseeing once we checked out of our hotel before our trip home. We set off on a journey toward the international district which is the backdrop of a book that Liz was reading as we were trip planning over the summer.
- Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, a novel by Jamie Ford
- The Panama Hotel, a national treasure by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

At the last minute, we also managed to book tickets into a tour of the Seattle Underground which I didn’t know was a thing until that moment. The underground experience was pretty cool. Buildings in the downtown area were originally constructed so that the main entrance to the building was on the second floor. That was to deal with major infrastructure and flooding issues that went unsolved for nearly a century.
- The Underground Tour has continuiously operated in the Seattle area since 1954.
